Where to start with this game??? It's really one of the most simple fun games I've played when I was 8 or 9.
You're a small cannon (really...) and you have to shoot all paratroopers dropping down out of helicopters. Also shoot the helicopters and the airplanes that drop bombs. If there are 4 paratroopers at one side of the cannon, they will kill you. If a bomb hits you, you will also be dead. |

It's one of the games that really reminds me of the old times, with very simple graphics and sound, but still being a very great game to play! This could be the best game to play if you don't know what to do and you only have a 386 PC in front of you. Go on! Check it out... It's only 7 KB |

What’s more fun than being a purple and turquoise canon that shoots down unsuspecting paratroopers? How about one that can take out planes and helicopters?! Sound appealing? Then Paratrooper is the game for you. While the graphics aren’t exactly breathe-taking, don’t get me wrong it was top of the line in 1982, the game is incredibly addicting.
“But how do open up a can on these Paratroopers if I’m unfamiliar with the controls?” you might ask. Well thankfully Paratroopers keeps the controls to an easy minimum. No crazy combo finishing moves here, just simple point and shoot.
Eventually you may even find yourself laughing with joy as you blast a helicopter and watch its’ shrapnel destroy another helicopter. Once your skill level increases, try mixing it up and soothing your sadistic side. Instead of shooting the paratroopers directly, just shoot their parachute and watch them fall to their doom. But don’t forget that they’re pretty tough and if you don’t shoot them while they’re high enough, they’ll land and live. Once four Paratroopers make it on a single side, they’ll form the death pyramid, a tactic that all Paratroopers use in real life, and blow up the turret. Additionally if they land right on top of the turret or a bomb hits the turret, the game will subsequently end. But don’t worry, bombs just like Paratroopers can be stopped with a well placed shot.
If you’re the kind of person that loves seeing a huge score at the end, be sure not to go Rambo on the bad guys. Each time you fire, it’ll cost you one point, so conservation is key.
As I said, this game isn’t the most advanced nor is it the latest and greatest, it’s just a simple game for easy entertainment. If you got some time to kill, then you might as well kill time and Paratroopers and some aircraft simultaneously. If you just want to zone out after a long day at work, this game is easy going enough to allow your brain to just shut down. Despite all the gizmos and graphics, I still find myself drawn to this game after a long day. Overall I rate this game highly, not just because I grew up with it, but because of the ease of getting into it and the simplicity of it.
For those who love drama, wandering around finding objects or intense graphics this game is not for you. If you just want to shoot bad guys and blow stuff up, you’ve met your match. |
