| The summer holidays have begun, but Willy Beamish has a big problem, his schoolresults for last year. The report is on the mail and Willy knows that if his father sees it, his opportunities for the Nintari championship are over. So Willy needs to get home before his father. That's where the game starts, you have to try and get Willy out of class, or even better, out of the school building. |

If you don't succeed, Willy's father sees the report. But sooner or later dad will find out about the report card and he gives the key of Willy's Nintari to his sister, so she'll keep it safe.
There are 2 problems now, the first: Get the key of Willy's Nintari back so he can practice for the championships. And the second problem: Get Willy enough money to be able to enter the championships, that means about $3,000.- if I'm right.
This is a very original game. |

The Adventures of Willy Beamish is an entertaining adventure-style game with an amusing premise and a pleasingly cartoony graphic style. This game puts you in the shoes of Willy Beamish, a school-age kid who can perhaps best be described as trouble looking for a place to happen. You will have plenty of opportunities to misbehave - just don't get caught doing it, or you'll be shipped off to military school! Your ultimate goal is to reach the "Nintari" championship, and you will have to travel quite an interesting road in order to get there. Be sure to keep a close eye on the meter that grades your behavior!
One of Willy Beamish's biggest strengths is its non-linear design. Rather than trying to shoe-horn you down one single preordained path, Willy Beamish offers you plenty of different paths to follow and gives you lots of optional things to do. It's the non-essential stuff that really adds to the value of this game and makes it shine. It gives a really big boost to the playability factor - and, perhaps more importantly, the replay ability factor as well. This is definitely a game that players will want to experience more than one, even if only to catch all of the little things that they missed on the previous go-round.
The graphics, while not groundbreaking, are nicely done and are a nice fit with the game's theme. Much the same can be said for the animation. The interface is comprehensive and does not detract from the gameplay. For the most part, the puzzles are not overly difficult, and the variety of paths available to players ensures that it is difficult to get really stuck fast in any one area of the game.
All in all, The Adventures of Willy Beamish is a fun romp and highly recommended. Two thumbs up! |
