Lemmings’ is one of those games that you can get completely lost in. I first played this wonderful game while staying with my cousin. What started as a means of passing time became an utter obsession. The game play is great and the controls become easy to pick up as the levels become progressively more difficult.
In Lemmings you have one task, get all the Lemmings to their destination. What may sound easy enough can become a huge mission as you get farther into the game? Not all Lemmings are created equal, as you can bestow special abilities on random Lemmings in the pack. |

| Some Lemmings can dig while others build stairs and some even blow up on command to create holes down to the next platform. All the while the crowds of waiting Lemmings mill about back and forth until they have a path to follow. Thankfully you only have to get a certain percentage of Lemmings to their destination every time. |

This way you can afford to cut a few loose in the grand plan to save the masses.
In the early levels you may be able to get away without too much strategy and without being very conservative with the lives of your Lemmings. However, as the game begins to develop the levels become incredibly difficult and may take hours of strategizing before you even make a single move. While that may sound a little monotonous, I can assure it is endless fun. Even a level that is seemingly easy can take a wrong turn due to something unforeseeable in an instant. You then watch all you little plans go down the drain as the Lemmings all fallow each other over the edge of a cliff in a matter seconds. Only someone who has played this incredible game can tell you how rewarding it is to get those little guys back home.
Though the graphics are not very good (pretty basic puts it mildly) the shear cleverness and sounds the Lemmings make more than compensate for the lack of visual appeal. I would recommend this game for people of all ages and genders. The game can be just as mentally stimulating and fun for an adult as for a child. And for when you really can’t manage to figure out a level, making all the Lemmings explode at once can be a great way to get out your stress and start over! |
