Did you always want to be a rockstar? Well, in this game it's finally possible, with all the elements you will find in a real-life rockstar career. You get advice of your friends, your manager. You can gig in all parts of the world. It's even possible to tour with a big band or do some promotion shots at radio or TV. Bring out CD's and become a rockstar. One of the best games I've ever played, this is really addicting.
Although the graphics and the sounds are almost non-existing, this game is very original and for some reason. |

I remember buying this game when I was 10 and it was a totally different game from what I usually bought; I normally went for the football manager games, the likes of Player Manager (where is that game !) and Track Suit manager etc etc.
I am sure the title was based on the now infamamos Newspaper front page story that was lead by the Sun which was based on the title "Freddie Star ate my hamster thing or maybe it was Ozzie Osbourne ate my bat, although I am not sure who actually led that story.
Anyway, from what I can remember about this gaame you started out as a back street manager who takes on board a small band and the whole process involved building up the band from obscurity to total stardom and world domination. You picked the band members that you could only manage to afford from the very small budget that you originally start out with (why is it always the same scenario that you start out with nothing money wise ?). But as is alway the case you build it up and have to steer your members through the trials an tribulations of being a rockstar. I cannot remember what scenarios were placed in front of you and whether it was family friendly !.
I am sure that this game was without a total doubt the inspiration for programme genres like the now famous X Factor with that freak of a guy Simon " i am only interested in screwing you for as much cash as I can before dumping you" Cowell" and even the less famous Fame Academy that lasted around two or three series on the BBC that eventually gave in to be the lesser show.
If it was not for this game I am posiitive these shows would not have been dreamt up, so you need to ask your self this question, did Simon Cowell play this game as a youngster and it inspired him so much that he actually dreamt up a format for a show that would now make him millions and millions of pounds ?. If this is indeed the case maybe the publisher and inventor of Rockstar Ate My Hamster should be onto said Mr Simon coweel and ask him for a slice of the vast amount of royalties they should be due. |
