4D Sports: Tennis

Sports Game (1990)
Download 4D Sports: Tennis
Unfortunately, this game has been rather unsuccessful. The game was part of a very small 4D sports collection along with 4D sports: boxing. Still, I'm not very sure if it was just underrated or if it just didn't have it.

Featuring a very nice 3D engine which could really stand out in its time, the movements and physics of the players are really revolutionary, which could actually make this game worth playing.

Though, it didn't look that shining and you could even say the game looks boring. It would have been nice if the developers would have put that little bit more into the graphics rather than the engine.

But the engine really amazed me if you keep in mind that this game was released in 1990. Players are actually moving alot like real tennis players move in real life, which makes me feel they've put alot of time into making this one realistic.

Still, for the gaming fans, games like Tennis Elbow will make your gaming experience alot better, but for the real die-hard tennis fans, this is absolutely a game that you should try and might even catch you playing in its career mode for quite some time!

The game is old, but even so, it is as responsive as it can get. It could be comparable to Wii tennis if movement were not required for it. Tennis games have always been an interest for me and I remember playing this for the first time as a high school student. It was an interesting game since I was on the tennis team of my school. Of course as it’s a game, you won’t be able to play better in real life tennis by playing this game, but you will be able to understand the basic rules and how tennis is played.
In my opinion, there are not enough tennis video games out there in the market, which is a shame because it could boost the popularity of real tennis for more people. The 1990s when this game was released was mostly dominated by other sports such as baseball and so baseball games were very much popular during the time. They would make many video games that compare to baseball and even pinball baseball. They could have made a tennis pinball as well but it lacked appeal to many people. This game was a breakthrough for all the fans of tennis and many today are fans of tennis as well. Tennis has become a very popular sport in today's time in addition to golf. With the release of the newer gaming consoles it has been much easier to make these less popular games appeal to the large crowd of people. I praise 4D Sports: Tennis for releasing a game of such caliber and interest at such a time that would not have been possible by other gaming companies. These kinds of games have always interested me because they represent the minority of people's gaming interests. The most dominated at the time had been mindless games such as Pacman that had only the goal of getting the highest amount of points possible before falling to the enemy. While the Tennis game's AI was not as well thought up as other games, they probably just lacked the resources to research into a more compatible system as more of the mainstream games had.
Although this was just a minor setback, this game has had much success for its time and it can be shown as one of the greatest sports games to come out in the 1990s. I would give this game 4/5 stars, because of its great interface for a game of its time and its actual gameplay.
